At Wonga Beach State School we want our children to achieve, and therefore we have:
a desire for our children to inquire, investigate and critically evaluate
a strong focus on literacy, numeracy and technology
a focus on respecting prime learning time through initiatives including uninterrupted learning blocks
a desire to promote sustainability and looking to the future
a respect for difference, inclusion and equity
an atmosphere of respect and trust built on relationships developed as a result of being a small school where we are able to get to know most of our students well.
Wonga Beach State School is a well-respected school, and is a school of choice for parents and children. Our staff are focused on being the best they can be, because we know great teaching makes the biggest difference in classrooms. In 2009 we introduced Wonga raising achievement plan (WRAP) and a commitment to making learning the constant in all of our classrooms.
Our school has high expectations and teaches using 'Explicit Instruction', via the 'I do, we do, you do' method, and a strong focus on 'Warm ups' to consolidate student learning.
We offer Religious Instruction each Wednesday from 12:30 to 1pm. There are 2 classes - a junior class and a senior class. The junior class is grades 1 to 3 and the senior class is grades 4 to 6. We offer a combined denomination class. Parents are able to choose whether they wish their children to participater in this time or remain in the classroom with their teacher.
We hope that you enjoy your time with us and we look forward to getting to know you and your family.
